About Prof. Vijay Sangar
In 2007, Professor Vijay Sangar was appointed as a Consultant and later in 2018, he became a Professor of Urology at the Manchester Academic Health Sciences Centre, affiliated with the University of Manchester.
He is renowned for his expertise in men's health, particularly in Penile Surgery. His specialties include treating Sexual Dysfunction, such as erectile dysfunction, infertility, scrotal disorders, and Peyronie's disease. Additionally, he has significant experience in diagnosing and treating urological cancers, working with one of the UK's top pelvic cancer teams, and focuses on both non-invasive and invasive bladder cancer.
Professor Sangar actively engages in clinical research, focusing on penile and bladder cancers. He was pivotal in establishing one of the largest penile biobanks globally and in developing bladder-sparing techniques.
He has held several prestigious positions, such as Director of Surgery at The Christie, Lead Penile Surgeon for North West England, Executive Committee member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons' Andrology and Genito-Urethral Surgery Section, and Chair of NHS England's Specialised Urology and Cancer Surgery Clinical Reference Group. He continues his clinical roles within NHS England and chairs the Cancer Stream for eUROGEN, among other national and international responsibilities.
